How BOTOX® and Xeomin® are the Same
Both of these treatments inject a purified protein serum into target areas to address fine lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movements. They both work by blocking neurotransmitters in order to stop these facial movements responsible for the fine lines and wrinkles. This allows the face to relax and the wrinkles to fade. The results of both treatments are temporary and last approximately the same length of time. In order to maintain improvements with either option, follow-up treatments are required once every few months. Otherwise, facial movements return to normal and the lines and wrinkles return.
How They Differ
The absolute biggest difference between these two injections has to do with what goes into them. Xeomin® is pure protein serum. BOTOX®, on the other hand, contains a number of other protective ingredients. One advantage that Xeomin® has over BOTOX® is that users are less likely to develop a resistance to it over time.Some people report that Xeomin® does not make their face feel as tight as BOTOX® treatments do. For people who find that either BOTOX® or Dysport, another similar treatment, do not work for them anymore, Xeomin® may be a good option. While results are the same in most ways with these two treatments, they do tend to develop slightly quicker when it comes to BOTOX®.
